Text Box: Looking For Sun...
Text Box: On Saturday, June 6th, the Fairfield County Plant Swap was held at the New Canaan Nature Center. Sponsored by The Gardeners’ List (publisher of In the Garden) and Roberts & Roberts Landscape & Garden Design, the event brought together plant lovers from across southern Connecticut. Well over 100 plants were brought to the swap, examined, discussed, and ultimately taken home by a delighted gardener.
Plants were divided into different categories based on pot size (1 quart, 1gallon, and 2 gallon). Swappers were given a color-Text Box: coded coupon for each plant they brought to the swap, depending on pot size, and could then exchange each coupon for a plant of the same category.
Aside from the ubiquitous hosta, there were many interesting plants, including corydalis, lovage, Inula elecampane (wild sunflower), variegated Solomon’s seal, various Siberian and bearded irises, meadow rue, tomatoes, bleeding heart, epimedium, Echinacea, and so much more.
Text Box: Keep an eye open for details on the Fall Plant Swap which we hope to hold in early October.
